According to preliminary figures for December 2018, the value of exported goods amounted to ISK 54,500 million fob and the value of imported goods amounted to ISK 65,200 million fob. Thus there was a trade deficit, calculated on fob value, of ISK 10,700 million as compared with a trade deficit of ISK 23,600 million in December 2017, at current rates of exchange. Trade in ships and aircraft does not significantly affect the December trade balance.

In December 2018 the value of exported goods was ISK 11,300 million higher than in December 2017 or 26.1% at current exchange rate, mainly due to increased exports in marine products.

The value of imported goods in December 2018 was ISK 1,700 million lower than in the same month last year or 2.5% at current exchange rate.

It should be borne in mind that these are preliminary figures that may change due to regular revision.
