NEWS RELEASE EXTERNAL TRADE 04 OCTOBER 2018

According to preliminary figures for September 2018, the value of exported goods amounted to ISK 48,700 million fob and the value of imported goods amounted to ISK 63,800 million fob. Thus, there was a deficit of ISK 15,100 million in September 2018, calculated on fob value.

In September 2018 the value of exported goods was ISK 3,800 million higher than in September 2017 or 8.4% at current exchange rate, mainly due to increased exports in manufacturing products.

The value of imported goods in September 2018 was ISK 2,200 million lower than in the same month last year or 3.4% at current exchange rate. This difference is mostly due to decrease imports on consumer goods other than food and beverages.

It should be borne in mind that these are preliminary figures that may change due to regular revision.
