NEWS RELEASE EXTERNAL TRADE 25 NOVEMBER 2019

The surplus of balance of trade in goods and services in the third quarter of 2019, as published in National Accounts and Balance of Payments, was 55,500 million ISK according to preliminary figures, compared with a surplus of 75,800 million ISK in the third quarter of 2018. The deficit of converted trade in goods was 45,900 million ISK while the surplus of balance of trade in services was 101,300 million ISK, in the third quarter of 2019. Total export of goods and services for the third quarter of 2019 was 374,000 million ISK while total import of goods and services was 318,500 million ISK.

Parallel to this publication, Statistics Iceland updates data for monthly trade in goods and services for the third quarter of 2019. In September 2019, total export of trade in goods and services was estimated 115,600 million ISK and total import of trade in goods and services was estimated 108,800 million ISK. The surplus of balance of trade in goods and services was therefore estimated 6,800 million ISK in September 2019.

These figures are published in the transition tables on Statistic Iceland’s website, which harmonizes the standards for trade in goods and balance of payment.
