NEWS RELEASE EXTERNAL TRADE 16 MAY 2012

In 2011 the goods exported from Iceland amounted to 620,100 million ISK and goods imported into Iceland amounted to 523,000 million ISK fob, 561,600 million ISK cif. Thus there was a trade surplus of goods, calculated on fob value, of 97,100 million ISK whereas the trade surplus in 2010 was 120,200 million ISK. Exports of goods increased by 10.5% at current prices while imports of goods increased by 17.7%. Manufacturing products constituted 54.1% of all exports of goods and marine products 40.6%, but the largest import categories were industrial supplies, 32.1% of total and capital goods, 21.8% of total. Largest trading countries were the Netherlands in exports of goods and Norway in imports of goods and EEA was the most important market area for both exports of goods and imports of goods.
