The value of exported goods amounted to 53.0 billion ISK fob according to preliminary figures for May 2020 while the value of imported goods amounted to 51.2 billion ISK fob. Thus, there was a trade surplus, calculated on fob value, of 1.7 billion ISK as compared with a trade deficit of 2.8 billion ISK in May 2019, at current rates of exchange.
The value of exported goods was 10.3 billion ISK lower in May 2020 than in May 2019 or 16.3% at current exchange rate. There was a decrease in all categories, in particular in the export of manufacturing products.
The value of imported goods in May 2020 was 14.8 billion ISK lower than in May 2019 or 22.4% at current exchange rate. There was a decrease in all categories except in the import of industrial supplies.
