In 2025, the value of exports of services amounted to 1.046.4 billion ISK and the imports of services 763.8 billion ISK. This resulted in a services trade surplus of 282.7 billion ISK compared with a surplus of 264.8 billion ISK in 2024 at current exchange rates.
Exports of services increased by 6% between years
The total value of service exports in 2025 was 63.6 billion ISK higher than in 2024, representing a 6% increase at current exchange rates. The strongest growth was recorded in travel services, which were valued at an estimated 478.3 billion ISK in 2025—an increase of 7% compared with the previous year. Exported value of telecommunications, computer and information services was estimated at 101.4 billion ISK in 2025 and increased by 38%. This growth can largely be attributed to increased activity by companies connected to data centre operations.
In 2025, service exports to the United States totalled 325.1 billion ISK, a 3% increase compared with the previous year at current exchange rates. Exports to the United Kingdom amounted to 95.3 billion ISK, an increase of 11% from 2024. Meanwhile, service exports to Germany stood at 65.9 billion ISK, representing a 5% increase year-on-year.
Imports of services increased by 6% between years
In 2025, the total value of service imports was 45.8 billion ISK higher than in 2024, representing a 6% increase at current exchange rates. Travel imports were valued at 273.4 billion ISK, up 10% from the previous year. Transportation imports reached 123.7 billion ISK, a 1% decrease year-on-year. Imports of telecommunications, computer, and information services grew by 10%, while imports of other business services rose by 2% compared with 2024.
The Unted States and the United Kingdom remained the largest trading partners for service imports in 2025. Imports of services from the United States totalled 91 billion ISK, a 1% increase from the previous year. Imports from the United Kingdom amounted to 88.1 billion ISK, up 4% from the previous year. The Netherlands ranked as the third-largest trading partner for service imports, with a 10% increase in imports between 2024 and 2025.
