The landed catch of Icelandic vessels in April 2019 was 113,094 thousand tonnes which is a 23% decrease from April 2018. The decrease is because of less blue whiting catch which amouted to 61 thousand tonnes compared with 94 thousand tonnes in April 2018. Demersal catch was 49 thousand tonnes in April, the same as in April 2018. Flatfish catch decresed by 15% between years and shellfish catch decreased by 32%.

In the 12 month period from May 2018 to April 2019 the total catch was nearly 1,115 thousand tonnes and has decreased by 12% compared with the same period a year earlier. The decrease is due to less pelagic catch.

The value index in April is 2.5% lower than in April 2018.

Please note that in the relese from April 15th. the amount of total catch from April 2018 to March 2019 was incorrect. The right amount is 1,148 thosand tonnes, not 1,305 thousand tonnes. Other data were correct.
