NEWS RELEASE FISHERIES 14 FEBRUARY 2020

The landed catch of Icelandic vessels in January 2020 was 35.8 thousand tonnes which is a 23% decrease from January last year. Demersal catch decreased by 37% while pelagic catch increased due to 6 thousand tonnes catch of blue whiting, whereas none was caught in January 2019.

The total catch in a 12 month period from February 2019 to January 2020 decreased by 13% compared to the same period a year earlier.
