NEWS RELEASE FISHERIES 15 NOVEMBER 2021

The total catch of Icelandic vessels was 119 thousand tonnes in October 2021 which is 38% more than in October 2020. Demersal catch was 34 thousand tonnes, mostly cod. Pelagic catch in October 2021 was 84 thousand tonnes, mostly herring, 66 thousand tonnes.

In the 12 month period from November 2020 to October 2021 the total catch was just over 1.072 million tonnes which is a 6% increase from the previous 12 months period. Pelagic catch was 471 thousand tonnes and demersal catch was 570 thousand tonnes.

In fixed prices the catch in September 2021 was 1.8% less than in October 2020.
