Total catch of Icelandic vessels in August 2011 was 110,087 tonnes compared to 116,178 tonnes in August 2010. Demersal species accounted for nearly 24 thousand tonnes, thereof cod nearly 10 thousand tonnes, haddock nearly 4 thousand tonnes, redfish also nearly 4 thousand tonnes and saithe 4 thousand tonnes. The pelagic catch was 84 thousand tonnes, thereof mackerel 59 thousand tonnes and herring 24 thousand tonnes.
At constant prices the volume of the catch decreased by 20.3% in August 2011 compared with August 2010. In the first eight months of 2011 the value of catch increased by 1.0% compared with the same time-period in 2010.
