NEWS RELEASE FISHERIES 15 FEBRUARY 2017

The total catch of Icelandic vessels in January was 7,610 tonnes. The catch is 90% less than in January 2016 due to fishermen‘s strike. Small boats with catch quota and hook and line boats landed 94% of the catch in January.

In the 12 month period from February 2016 to January 2017 the total catch has decreased by 295 thousand tonnes, or 23% compared with the same period a year earlier.
