Total catch of Icelandic vessels in June 2011 was 80,224 tonnes compared to 85,181 tonnes in June 2010. Demersal species accounted for nearly 37 thousand tonnes, thereof cod 9 thousand tonnes, haddock 2 thousand tonnes, redfish 5 thousand tonnes and saithe 5 thousand tonnes. The pelagic catch was 40 thousand tonnes, thereof mackerel 24 thousand tonnes and herring 15 thousand tonnes.
At constant prices the volume of the catch increased by 5.8% in June 2011 compared with June 2010. In the first six months of 2011 the value of catch increased by 6.8% compared with the same time-period in 2010.
