The total catch of Icelandic vessels in June was just over 53 thousand tonnes an increase of 27% compared with June 2016. The biggest increase was in blue whiting where the catch was 15,5 thousand tonnes compared with 2 thousand tonnes in June 2016. Demersal catch decreased 8% compared with the previous year. Cod catch was nearly 18 thousand tonnes, an increase of 3% compared with June 2016.
In the 12 month period from July 2016 to June 2017 the total catch was just over 1.1 million tonnes, a increase of 5% compared with the same period from 2015 to 2016.
The value index was 7.2% higher than in June 2016
