Total fish catch increased by 45% when May 2014 is compared to May 2013. This is due to over 100% increase in blue whiting catch and a 12% increase in cod catches. When comparing 12 month periods, there has been a 23% decrease in catches between June 2013 and May 2014 compared to the same period one year earlier.
Fish catch in Iceland decreased by 9.5% in constant prices in the months of May 2013 and May 2014. During the previously mentioned 12 month period there was a decrease by 4.5% in fish catches at constant prices compared to the year before.
