The value of catch by Icelandic vessels was 1.9 billion ISK in January 2017 which is 81% less than in January 2016 due to fishermen‘s strike in Iceland in that month. No pelagic species were caught and the value of demersal catch, flatfish and shellfish was greatly diminished, as compared to the previous January.
Total value of catch in the 12 month period from February 2016 to January 2017 was about 26 billion ISK less than during the previous 12 month period, which amounts to 17.1% reduction in total value.
