The value of catch from Icelandic vessels in July was just over 8.3 billion ISK which is 11.7% less than in July 2016. However, the tonnage of catch was 3% more than in July last year.
Value of demersal catch was 5.1 billion ISK, which is 12% less than in July 2016. Value of cod decreased by 5.5% although the tonnage increased by 22%. Value of haddock was 6.7% more than in July last year. Value of flatfish catch increased by 22.7% and the value of shellfish catch increased by 13.1%. Value of pelagic catch was 2.3 billion ISK in July 2016 but was 1.6 billion in July 2017, a 29.1% reduction in value.
Total value of catch in the 12 month period from August 2016 to July 2017 was 111.5 billion ISK which amounts to 18.8% decrease compared with the same period a year earlier.
