The value of catch by Icelandic vessels was 11 billion ISK in October 2016 which is a 8% decrease compared with October 2015. Value of demersal catch was 7.8 billion ISK, a decrease of 16% from the previous year. The value of pelagic catch was 2.5 billion ISK which is 40.5% more than in 2015 mostly due to more mackerel catch. The value of flatfish catch in October decreased by 40% and was 520 million ISK.
Total value of catch in the 12 month period from November 2015 to October 2016 was 137.1 billion ISK which is a decrease of 9.6% compared with the same period one year earlier. This decrease is mainly due to a 21.7% decrease in value of pelagic catch and 6.1% decrease in demersal catch value.
