The value of catch by Icelandic vessels was 12.2 billion ISK in September 2016 which is a 1.9% decrease compared with September 2015. Value of demersal catch was 6.9 billion ISK, a decrease of 20% from the previous year. The value of pelagic catch was 4.5 billion ISK which is 52.6% more than in 2015 mostly due to more mackerel catch. The value of flatfish catch in September increased by 21.8% and was 621 million ISK.
Total value of catch in the 12 month period from October 2015 to September 2016 was 137.6 billion ISK which is a decrease of 10% compared with the same period one year earlier. This decrease is mainly due to a 29% decrease in pelagic catch.
