The value of catch from Icelandic vessels in October 2017 was 11.1 billion ISK which is 0.8% more than in October 2016. Demersal catch value was 7.8 billion ISK, which is 0.4% less than in October 2016. Of the demersal species the value of cod was just over 5.2 billion ISK which is 2.8% less than in the same month a year earlier. The value of pelagic catch was 2.6 billion ISK compared with 2.5 billion in October 2016, an increase of 4.6%. Value of flatfish was nearly 477 million ISK which is 8.4% less than in October 2016. The value of shellfish increased by 44%, was 164 million ISK compared with 114 million in October 2016.
Total value of catch in the 12 month period from October 2016 to October 2017 was nearly 109.4 billion ISK which is a 20.2% decrease compared with catch value for the same period one year earlier.
