The most caught species were Peruvian anchovy, Alaska pollock, and shipjack tuna, while among the ten most caught species were herring, mackerel, and cod, which are well known species in Icelandic waters. The world's largest fishing nations in 2022 were China, Indonesia, and Peru, while Iceland ranked fourteenth.
