The population of Iceland at the end of the 2nd quarter 2025 was 391,810, 200,660 males, 190,950 females and non-binary/other were 200. The population increased by 1,810 from the previous quarter. Inhabitants of the capital region were 250,400 and 141,410 lived outside it.
A total of 1,100 children were born in the 2nd quarter and 600 persons died. Net migration was 1,350 persons. Net migration of persons with Icelandic citizenship was 100, and 1,240 for foreign citizens. More males than females emigrated. Foreign citizens were 68,980, or 17.6% of the total population in Iceland by the end of the 2nd quarter 2025.
