The population of Iceland was 393,160 at the end of the third quarter of 2025, 201,500 males, 191,450 females and non-binary/other were 210. The population increased by 1,350 from the previous quarter. Inhabitants of the Capital region were 250,800 and 142,360 lived in other regions.
A total of 1,140 children were born in the third quarter and 650 persons died. Net migration was 860 persons. Net migration of persons with Icelandic citizenship was -70, and 930 for foreign citizens. More males than females emigrated. Foreign citizens were 69,670, or 17.7% of the total population by the end of the third quarter 2025.
