The Consumer Price Index (CPI) based on prices in October 2024, is 634.1 points (May 1988=100), 0.28% higher than in the previous month. The CPI less housing cost is 510.8 points, 0.29% higher than in September 2024.
Prices of food increased by 1.0% (effect on index 0.13%) and prices of international flights increased by 6.6% (0.12%).
The CPI is 5.1% higher in October 2024 than in October 2023 and the CPI less housing cost is 2.8% higher than one year ago.
Statistics Iceland has received inquiries about the effects of a possible vehicle mileage fee on the consumer price index and has therefore added a new question regarding that under Q&A’s which is, however, only available on the Icelandic webpage.
The CPI compiled in the middle of October 2024, 634.1 points, is applicable for indexation purposes in December 2024.
