The producer price index (PPI) in April 2011 was 213.5 points (4. quarter 2005 = 100), 1.6% higher than in the previous month. The PPI for fish products was 247.4 points which is 1.7% higher than in March 2011 (effect on the index 0.6%) and the PPI for power intensive industry products was 258.8 points, 0.5% (-0.2%) lower than in March 2011. The PPI for food products rose by 0.2% and the PPI for other manufactured products increased by 8.2% (1.2%).
The PPI for domestically sold products was 0.9% (0.2%) higher than in the previous month while the index for exported products increased by 1.8% (1.4%).
Compared to April 2010 the PPI has increased by 6.0%. The PPI for fish products has increased by 8.4% and the PPI for power intensive industry products has increased by 4.3%. In the same period the PPI for food products rose by 4.7%.

In evaluating the price changes accounted for here, it may be taken into consideration that the trade-weighted average price of foreign exchange in April 2011 was 0.2% higher than in the preceding month whereas it was 5.0% lower than in April 2010.
