The producer price index (PPI) in June 2011 was 218.0 points (4. quarter 2005 = 100), 0.5% higher than in the previous month. The PPI for fish products was 253.7 points which is 1.8% higher than in May 2011 (effect on the index 0.6%) and the PPI for power intensive industry products was 266.5 points, 1.6% lower (-0.6%). The PPI for food products increased by 1.1% (0.1%) and the PPI for other manufactured products rose by 2.6% (0.4%).
The PPI for domestically sold products was 0.1% lower than in the previous month while the index for exported products increased by 0.7% (0.5%).
Compared with June 2010 the PPI has increased by 13.0%. The PPI for fish products rose by 14.6% and the PPI for power intensive industry products has increased by 14.1%. In the same period the PPI for food products rose by 5.8%.
Basic weights for the PPI are revised annually and are as of June 2011 based on Statistics Iceland’s PRODCOM survey for the years 2009 and 2010.

In evaluating the price changes accounted for here, it may be taken into consideration that the trade-weighted average price of foreign exchange in June 2011 was 0.6% higher than in the preceding month and 2.5% higher than in June 2010.
