NEWS RELEASE PRICES 28 OCTOBER 2011

The producer price index (PPI) in September 2011 was 215.3 points (4. quarter 2005 = 100), 0.6% lower than in the previous month. The PPI for fish products was 255.8 points which is 0.2% higher than in August 2011 (effect on the index 0.1%) and the PPI for power intensive industry products was 250.8 points, 2.6% lower (-1.0%). The PPI for food products increased by 1.2% (0.1%) and the PPI for other manufactured products rose by 1.1% (0.2%).

The PPI for domestically sold products was 1.2% (0.3%) higher than in the previous month while the index for exported products decreased by 1.2% (-0.9%).

Compared to September 2010 the PPI has increased by 13.9%. The PPI for fish products rose by 15.3% and the PPI for power intensive industry products increased by 13.2%. In the same period the PPI for food products rose by 10.1%.

In evaluating the price changes accounted for here, it may be taken into consideration that the trade-weighted average price of foreign exchange in September 2011 was 1.3% lower than in the preceding month and 4.7% higher than in September 2010.
