Overnight stays increased by 1,5% compared to March 2010
In March 2011, overnight stays in hotels were 96,900 compared to 95,400 in March 2010. Overnight stays increased in all regions except in the North and in the South.

Nights spent by foreign tourists accounted for 71% of total number of overnight stays in March and decreased by 1% compared to March 2010. At the same time there was an increase in overnight stays of Icelanders by 10% compared to the same period last year.

Overnight stays in hotels for the first three months of 2011 increased between years
For the first three months of 2011 the number of overnight stays was 232,400 and increased by 2% between years.

The data above only show overnight stays in hotels that are operating for the whole year. Guesthouses and summer hotels are not included in this category.
