Overnight stays in hotels increases between years in November
In November 2008, overnight stays in hotels were 77,300 and increased by 2% compared with November 2007. Overnight stays in the South and East regions increased by 30% from November 2007. In other regions overnight stays were similar between years except in the North where the number of overnight stays decreased by 12%.


Overnight stays in hotels from January to November 2008 increases by 2% between years
Overnight stays in hotels from January to November were 1,276,910 compared with 1,257,082 for the same period in 2007. Overnight stays in the South region increased by 13% and in the East by 7%. In other regions, the number of overnight stays was similar or decreased slightly between years.

The number of overnight stays by Icelanders increased by 1% and by foreigners by 2% for the first eleven months of 2008 compared with the same period in 2007.

The data above only show overnight stays in hotels that are operating for the whole year. Guesthouses and summer hotels are not included in this category.
