Overnight stays increased by 11% compared with October 2010
In October 2011, overnight stays in hotels were 117,000 compared with 105,000 in October 2010.

Nights spent by foreign tourists accounted for 74% of the total number of overnight stays in October and increased by 13% compared with October 2010. At the same time there was a 6% increase in overnight stays of Icelanders.

Overnight stays in hotels increased between years
The number of overnight stays in the first ten months of 2011 was 1,339,700, a 13% increase compared with the same period 2010.

The data above only show overnight stays in hotels that are operating for the whole year. Guesthouses and summer hotels are not included in this category.
