In April 2013, overnight stays in hotels were 133,000 compared to 120,900 in April 2012.
Nights spent by foreign tourists accounted for 79% of the total number of overnight stays in April and increased by 9% compared with April 2012. At the same time the overnight stays of Icelanders increased by 12%.
Nights spent in hotels increased by 23%
For the first four months of 2013 the total number of guest nights was 527,300 and increased by 23% compared with 2012. Nights spent by foreign visitors increased by 26% while national guest nights increased by 11%.
The data above only show overnight stays in hotels that are operating for the whole year. Guesthouses and summer hotels are not included in this category.
