In July 2015, overnight stays in hotels were 351,700 which is an increase of 17% compared with July 2014.

Nights spent by foreign tourists accounted for 92% of the total number of overnight stays in July and increased by 19% compared with July 2014. Overnight stays of Icelanders decreased by 3% compared to July 2014

In the Capital region, the number of overnight stays was 193,200, which is a 18% increase compared with July 2014. Overnight stays in the South region were 61,700 in July 2015. Overseas residents with most overnight stays in Iceland in July were residents from the Germany (77,300), USA (62,000), and the UK (32,200).

In the last twelve months, from August 2014 until July 2015, overnight stays in hotels were 2,556,990 which is an increase of around 17% compared with the same period in the previous year.

Occupancy rate for bedrooms in hotels in July 2015 was 94.4%
In June the occupancy rate for bedrooms was highest in South, around 98,3% and in the Capital region and in the West and West fjords, around 95%.
