In August 2013, overnight stays in hotels were 259,800 compared to 248,300 in August 2012.

Nights spent by foreign tourists accounted for 89% of the total number of overnight stays in August and increased by 5% compared with July 2012. At the same time the overnight stays of Icelanders increased by 3%.

Nights spent in hotels increased by 14% for the first eight months
For the first eight months of 2013 the total number of guest nights was 1,466,273 and increased by 14% compared with 2012. Nights spent by foreign visitors increased by 15% while national guest nights increased by 9%.

The data above only show overnight stays in hotels that are operating for the whole year. Guesthouses and summer hotels are not included in this category.
