Comparing the year 2019 to 2018 the revenue generated by foreign tourists was 10% less in 2019.The drop was around 50 billion ISK and a majority of the reduction, 43 billion ISK, can be traced to less revenue coming from passenger flights.

VAT turnover in key tourism sectors in November and December 2019 was 8% lower than it was in the same period the previous year, going from 90 billion ISK to 83 billion ISK. All key tourism sectors delivered less turnover during this period than the same period a year prior. Turnover from international passenger flights was 31 billion ISK in this period which is 5% less than in November and December 2018.
