New data on regular salaries in the private sector by economic activity and sex, and occupational group and sex have been published on the Statistics Iceland website. The data show earnings for part-time as well as full-time employees. Part-time employees are calculated as full-time equivalent. In addition data are published for the whole group.

In January 2008 Statistics Iceland published data on earnings for full-time employees in the private sector. Three types of earnings are published for full-time employees; regular salaries, total regular salaries and total salaries. Data on total hours worked are also published.

When comparing data between groups it is important to keep in mind that in many occupational groups, e.g. managers and professionals, fixed-wage contracts are common. Thus, overtime payments are included in some full-time employees’ regular salaries.

Data for the year 2007 will be published 16 April 2008.
