NEWS RELEASE WAGES AND INCOME 28 NOVEMBER 2007

The wage index for the 3rd quarter of 2007 is 121.8 points, 1.3% higher than in the previous quarter. The wage index for the private sector has increased by 1.5% during the same period. The quarterly increase of the wage index for the public sector was 1.0%.

The wage index has risen by 8.8% from the 3rd quarter of 2006. The annual increase of the wage index for the private market was 9.4% and for the public sector 7.4%.

Wage index in the private sector by occupational group
Wage increases in the private sector ranged from 0.9% for craft workers to 1.9% for clerks and professionals since the previous quarter.  Annual increases ranged from 7.7% for craft workers to 12.2% for clerks.

Wage index in the private sector by economic activity
Since the previous quarter, regular wages have risen by 2.4% in the economic activity of Financial intermediation (J), while the increase was 1.1% in Manufacturing (D). The annual increase of the wage index ranged from 7.4% in the economic activity of Manufacturing (D) to 15.5% in the economic activity of Financial intermediation (J).
