          The Icelandic consumer price index (CPI) rose by 5.3% from October 2010 to October 2011. At the same time the CPI excluding housing rose by 5.0%. Iceland is highly dependent on imports of consumer goods; almost 40% of the index’s total weight consists of such goods. Prices of imported goods rose by 5.1% (effect on the index 1.93%) between October 2010 and October 2011. Thereof prices of petrol and diesel oil increased by 19.6% (0.99%).
