In the 3rd quarter of 2018, the financial balance of the general government (i.e. the central government, the social security funds and the local governments) amounted to a 1.8 billion ISK surplus or 0.2% of quarterly GDP and 0.6% of general government total revenue. In the first nine months of the year, the surplus amounted to 30.6 billion ISK, 3.5% of the total revenue.
