The vast majority of Icelandic enterprises use computers and the Internet or 97–100%. Nine out of every ten enterprises with access to the Internet use xDSL connection and 44% have a connection with a download speed of 2 Mb/sec or more. Around 95% of connected enterprises use virus checking or protection software, 81% use firewalls and 75% use off-site data backup.
