This working paper reports an analysis of pay gap by background which is a collaboration between Statistic Iceland and the Immigrant council. This is the first time that Statistics Iceland conducts this kind of analysis. The results show that immigrants have generally lower earnings than locals. It is estimated that immigrants have on average almost 8% lower earnings than locals after correcting for key demographic and employment related factors that are available in the databases of Statistics Iceland.
